The best free CPAP data tools, and exactly where "free" stops

You can see a great deal of your CPAP data without paying anything. The question with free CPAP data tools is never whether they exist. It is which limits you are accepting: no phone, no history, no sharing, one device, one brand. This page lists the five free options, what each gives you at $0, where the wall is, and how people combine them so the walls stop mattering. Apnealytics has a free tier in this list; we have described its limits the same way as everyone else's.

1. OSCAR: free without an asterisk

OSCAR is free, open source and maintained by volunteers for Windows, Mac and Linux. There is no tier above it. Import your SD card and you get every channel the machine records, from flow and pressure to flow limitation, snore, minute ventilation and tidal volume, zoomable to the individual breath. It reads ResMed, Philips, Fisher & Paykel, Löwenstein and others. Nothing leaves your computer.

The limits are not about money. There is no phone app. The database lives on one computer. Sharing a chart means a screenshot. And the learning curve is steep; the default view is dense and assumes knowledge.

Free verdict: the most you can get for nothing, if you are willing to learn it and live on a desktop.

03

2. myAir: the free ResMed baseline

ResMed's companion app shows one 0–100 score each morning, built from usage hours, mask seal, events per hour and mask on/off. Data arrives over the machine's modem, so there is no card to handle. It is the only tool that reads the AirMini, which has no SD card.

The limits: ResMed only, and summary only. (This is myAir, which reads only ResMed machines.) No waveforms, no pressure or leak percentiles, no event composition, limited history.

Free verdict: every ResMed user should have it. Few should stop there.

04

3. DreamMapper: the free Philips baseline

Philips' companion app for DreamStation machines. Nightly usage, mask fit and AHI with goal tracking. Philips only.

The limits: same shape as myAir. A summary built to encourage adherence, not to explain therapy.

Free verdict: every DreamStation user should have it, for the same reason.

05

4. SleepHQ Free: a 30-day window on one device

SleepHQ's free tier gives you the cloud dashboard and iOS app for one device and one member, with 30 days of history. It excludes Health sync and the community forum, and AI insights are Pro-only. SleepHQ Pro is US $14.90/month or $149/year.

SleepHQ reads 57 machine models across 5 brands including ResMed, Philips, Löwenstein, Fisher & Paykel and BMC, so the free tier is one of the few ways to get cloud charts for a non-ResMed machine without paying.

The limits: one device, one member, 30 days. If two people in your home use CPAP, or you want to look back further than a month, you are into Pro.

Free verdict: a genuine free trial that happens not to expire, best suited to one person with one machine who wants a rolling month.

5. Apnealytics Free: $0 forever, with a different set of walls

Apnealytics Free is designed to be the plan most people stay on. For nothing, you get:

  • Unlimited SD card imports on the web portal, incremental, with dedup.

  • The full nightly dashboard: Sleep Score, AHI with band, usage, leak P95, pressure P95 and set range, EPR, respiratory rate, event composition, 30-night rolling trend, Goals and streaks, "What changed?", "Heads up" alerts.

  • The last 30 nights of history.

  • Apple Health / Health Connect sync: resting heart rate, HRV, SpO₂, sleep hours and weight beside therapy. Only daily summaries leave the device.

  • Ask your data: chat with your own records using your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key, read-only, scoped to your account.

  • Knowledge Hub guides in the app.

  • Family logins: multiple people on one account.

  • Data export.

The limits: it reads ResMed (AirSense 10/11, AirCurve 10/11, S9 / Lumis), Philips DreamStation 1 and 2 and Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle; Löwenstein is partial, BMC / React Health Luna G3 and Transcend are on a waitlist. History is capped at the last 30 nights. Per-night waveforms, oximetry overlays, the PDF report, share links, multiple machines with gear history and the API are Pro ($8.99/month or $99.99/year). Card import is web-only; the phone apps (App Store and Google Play) sync Health data and import CSV/JSON but do not read the card.

Free verdict: the most complete free cloud tier on the list, if you are on ResMed. OSCAR and SleepHQ read your card if you are not.

How people combine free tools

The free tools do not conflict, because they all read the same card or the same modem feed. Common pairings:

myAir + OSCAR (ResMed, no cloud): the morning score on your phone, the deep dive on your laptop. Zero cost, zero cloud. The gap is history on the phone and anything to hand a doctor.

myAir + Apnealytics Free (ResMed, cloud, phone): the morning score plus a real dashboard with trend and anomaly alerts, Health data beside therapy, Ask your data, and family logins. Zero cost. The gap is history beyond 30 nights, waveforms in the browser, and the compliance PDF, which are Pro.

DreamMapper + OSCAR (Philips): the Philips baseline plus full detail on a desktop. Zero cost. The gap is phone access to the detail; SleepHQ Free is the free cloud route for Philips today, within its one-device, 30-day limit.

Apnealytics Free + OSCAR (ResMed): the daily dashboard on web and phone, the breath-level view in OSCAR when a night needs it. Zero cost.

When free stops being enough

Honest triggers for paying, on any platform:

  • A compliance deadline. Your DME or insurer wants a 90-day report showing 4 or more hours on 70 percent of nights. Assembling that by hand from OSCAR is possible and tedious. Apnealytics Pro's compliance autopilot finds the window and drafts the letter.

  • A doctor who wants a link, not a screenshot. Share links are a Pro feature on Apnealytics; SleepHQ's options are worth checking.

  • An oximeter. If you own a Wellue O2Ring or Contec CMS50 and want SpO₂ overlaid on the night, that is Apnealytics Pro. SleepHQ supports only its own O2 Ring.

  • More than 30 days. Both cloud free tiers cap history at 30 days or nights. If you want to see last winter beside this one, that is Pro on either.

  • Two machines or two people. Apnealytics Free already allows family logins; SleepHQ Free is one member, one device.
