ResMed SD card import: from card to dashboard in one drop

Everything in Apnealytics starts with the card in your machine. ResMed SD card import takes the whole card folder, sends it straight to your private storage, and parses it into one row per night, with waveforms kept for later. Upload again next month and only the new nights are added.

What it is

Import is the web portal's upload tool for ResMed data cards. It handles the realities of CPAP cards: files that run to several gigabytes, hundreds of small DATALOG files in nested folders, home Wi-Fi that drops, and the same card uploaded over and over for years. It also keeps a history of every import so you can see what came in and re-process it if we improve the parser.

How it works

Five-step upload flow: SD card, drag the whole folder, browser straight to private R2 storage with a resumable progress bar, parse to night rows and skip nights already imported, import history
  1. Remove the card

Turn off your ResMed machine, pop out the SD card and put it in a reader on your computer. The companion apps cannot read cards; import is web-only today.

  2. Open Import at my.apnealytics.com and drag the card's whole folder in, or pick it with the folder chooser. Apnealytics looks for the STR.edf summary file and the DATALOG folder.

  3. Upload goes direct

Files travel straight from your browser to private cloud storage on Cloudflare R2 over TLS, never through a middle server. The upload is resumable: if your connection drops, it picks up where it left off.

  4. Parse. The summary file becomes one record per night

AHI and event counts, usage, leak P95, pressure P95 and set range, EPR and respiratory rate. Raw DATALOG files are kept, unparsed, for the breath-by-breath viewer.

  5. Dedup and done

Nights already in your account are skipped. Your dashboard, Trends and Nights list update, and the import appears in your history.

What you'll see

  • Progress by file

A live list of files as they upload, with the count of nights discovered and a clear "already imported" tally for the ones that were skipped.

  • Import history

Every upload with its date, the span of nights it covered, the number of new nights added and the machine it came from. If something looks off, you can see exactly which import a night came from.

  • Re-process

When we improve a parser, you can re-run it on any past import without uploading again. Your raw files are already in your storage.

  • Machine detection

Apnealytics reads the machine model from the card and files it under your gear, so a new machine shows up as a new entry in your gear history. On Pro, multiple machines live side by side.

  • Other sources

Oximeter EDF and CSV files import on the same screen (Pro). The companion apps import CSV and JSON exports and sync Apple Health or Health Connect vitals.

Free vs Pro

SD card import is free and unlimited, with full import history and re-process. Free shows your most recent 30 nights; Pro unlocks every night you have ever uploaded, plus the per-night waveforms stored in your raw files.

FAQ

Questions people ask

How do I get the data off my ResMed SD card?

Turn the machine off, remove the card, and put it in a card reader connected to your computer. Open my.apnealytics.com, go to Import and drag in the entire card folder. Apnealytics needs the STR.edf file and the DATALOG folder; the simplest approach is to upload everything and let it sort out what it needs. Put the card back in the machine afterwards.

How big is a CPAP SD card upload?

Typically between two and six gigabytes for a card that has been in a machine for a while, because the DATALOG folder stores high-resolution signals for every night. The first upload takes the longest; later uploads only need to send the new files, and the upload resumes automatically if your connection drops.

Will uploading the same card twice create duplicate nights?

No. Imports are incremental and deduplicated. Each night is matched against what is already in your account, and only new nights are added. You can upload as often as you like without cleaning anything up.

Can I upload my SD card from my phone?

Not yet. Card import is web-only today because browsers on a computer can read a card reader and handle multi-gigabyte folder uploads reliably. The iPhone and Android apps import CSV and JSON exports, sync vitals, and show everything you have uploaded on the web.

Does the upload go through Apnealytics' servers?

No. Your browser uploads directly to your private storage on Cloudflare R2 using short-lived signed URLs. Our servers then read the files to parse your nights. The raw files stay in private storage, reachable only through signed links, and are deleted with your account if you leave. See Privacy & security.

Which ResMed machines write cards Apnealytics can read?

AirSense 10 and 11, AirCurve 10 and 11, and the S9 / Lumis families, which all write STR.edf plus a DATALOG folder. The AirMini has no SD card and cannot be read by any tool. Philips DreamStation 1 and 2 and Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle are read the same way, and Löwenstein support is partial. See the works-with hub.

Ready for a clearer picture of your nights?

The web app is live today. iPhone and iPad are on the App Store. Android is on Google Play. Your first 30 nights are free, forever.
