CPAP machine finder: a shortlist that fits your prescription

This CPAP machine finder matches your prescription, travel plans, noise sensitivity and data needs to a two-machine shortlist, and shows whether Apnealytics can read each one. It never suggests a different kind of therapy from the one you were prescribed.

Seven questions. Your therapy type is a hard filter; everything else ranks within it.

What this tool does

The machine finder is for people choosing a first machine, replacing an old one, or adding a travel unit. It filters by the therapy on your prescription, then ranks the machines in that class against your other answers.

It cannot set your pressure, judge your prescription or replace your provider's advice. In many countries a CPAP machine needs a prescription, and insurance may limit which models you can get.

How the quiz decides

Your therapy type decides which machines appear. Points then rank them.

Reading your result

Your shortlist. You see two machines side by side, with every answer that moved them. If one is Supported and one is on our waitlist, that is the trade-off to weigh: today, Apnealytics can show full nightly detail only for supported machines.

Talk to your care team. If you are prescribed ASV, the right device is a clinical decision. Bring your questions and your data to your sleep team.

Philips Respironics paused new sleep device sales in the US under a 2024 consent decree. The result notes this when DreamStation 2 appears.

Your machine and your data

The machine you choose decides what you can see later. Machines that write a full SD card record every event, leak and pressure reading, and Apnealytics turns that into a dashboard, trends and, on Pro, breath-by-breath waveforms. A machine without a card, like the AirMini, shows only what its own app reports, and no third-party tool can read it.

Questions to ask your provider or DME:

  • Is this exact model covered by my plan, and what will I pay?
  • Does it come with a humidifier and heated tube?
  • Does it record to an SD card, and is the card included?
  • Can it be set to my prescribed mode and pressure range?
  • What is the warranty, and who handles repairs?

FAQ

FAQ

Which CPAP machine gives the most data?

Machines that record to an SD card give the most detail: event times, leak, pressure and flow. The ResMed AirSense and AirCurve families, Philips DreamStation 2 and Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle all write cards that Apnealytics can read. The ResMed AirMini has no SD card, so only its own app sees its data.

Can I switch from CPAP to bilevel on my own?

No. Bilevel, CPAP and ASV are different therapies, and the type is part of your prescription. This finder only shows machines in the class you were prescribed. If you feel your current therapy is not working, take your data to your clinician and ask whether a change is worth testing.

Is the AirMini a good travel CPAP?

It is small and widely used for travel, with a waterless humidification system. The trade-off is data: it has no SD card, so Apnealytics and other analysis tools cannot read it. Many people keep a full-size machine at home for detailed tracking and use the AirMini only on trips.

Does Apnealytics work with Philips and Fisher & Paykel machines?

Yes. Philips DreamStation 1 and 2 and Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle are supported. Löwenstein and DeVilbiss machines have partial support. React Health Luna G3 and Transcend Micro are on our waitlist. Use the compatibility checker for your exact model.

Why does the finder ask about my budget?

Price ranges overlap a lot, and insurance changes what you actually pay. The budget question only nudges the ranking between machines in your therapy class. It never removes a machine that fits your needs, and you should confirm cost with your provider before buying.

Diagnosed and on CPAP? See if it's working.

Apnealytics reads your machine's SD card and shows residual AHI, leak and usage every night. Your first 30 nights are free.
