Upload fails or stalls

If your CPAP upload fails or stalls, the first thing to know is that the Apnealytics uploader is resumable: refresh the page, pick the same folder again, and it continues from where it stopped rather than starting over. Most stalls are a slow connection meeting a large card. The fixes below go from most to least likely.

Upload fails or stalls
01

How the upload works

Your browser sends each file straight to private cloud storage, in chunks, with no middle server. Files already in your account are skipped, so a second upload of the same card is small. A first upload of a card that has been in a machine for months can be 2 to 6 GB, which on a typical home connection is anywhere from ten minutes to over an hour.

Try these in order

  • 1. Give it time, and keep the tab open

The progress bar can look frozen on a large DATALOG folder while a big file uploads. Watch the per-file counter rather than the overall bar. Do not close the tab, put the computer to sleep, or switch to a VPN mid-upload.

  • 2. Refresh and re-pick the folder

Refresh my.apnealytics.com, open Import and select the same card folder. The uploader checks what is already stored and resumes. Nothing is duplicated.

  • 3. Check the card is still mounted

If the reader was bumped or the card ejected, the browser loses the files. Reinsert and re-pick.

  • 4. Switch browser

Chrome and Edge handle folder uploads most reliably. Safari works. Firefox works with a caveat on folder selection. If one browser stalls repeatedly, try another.

  • 5. Turn off extensions and content blockers for the portal

Aggressive ad or privacy blockers can block the direct connection to the storage endpoint. Apnealytics has no ads or trackers to block, so allow-listing my.apnealytics.com is safe.

  • 6. Check the network

    • Corporate or school networks sometimes block large uploads or unfamiliar storage endpoints. Try from home or a phone hotspot.
    • VPNs can throttle or drop long connections. Pause the VPN for the upload.
    • Wi-Fi far from the router drops packets. Move closer or plug in.
  • 7. Upload a smaller piece

If one folder keeps failing, pick the STR.edf file and the DATALOG folder separately, or upload one month's DATALOG subfolder at a time. The uploader is folder-aware and will slot the nights in correctly.

  • 8. Check the card itself

A card that produces the same failing file every time may have a corrupt file. The machine will usually still work; upload everything else, and if the problem night matters, ResMed can supply a replacement card.

What a successful upload looks like

Import history shows the upload with a file count and the number of new nights added. The dashboard updates with the newest night. If the upload completed but a night is missing, see No data for last night.

Email info@apnealytics.com with your browser, operating system, machine model, approximate card size and the name of the file that stalls. Do not attach the card files.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Why does my CPAP SD card upload take so long?

A card that has been in a machine for months holds 2 to 6 GB of raw files. Upload speed is limited by your internet connection's upload rate, which is usually far slower than download. The first upload is the big one; later uploads only send new nights.

Will I lose progress if the upload stops?

No. The upload is resumable. Refresh, pick the same folder again, and it continues from where it stopped. Files already stored are skipped, so there is no duplication.

Can I close my laptop during the upload?

No. Sleep suspends the browser and the connection. Keep the lid open and the computer awake until Import history shows the upload complete. Plug in power for a large first upload.

Does the upload go through Apnealytics servers?

No. Your browser uploads directly to private cloud storage on Cloudflare R2. That is why a content blocker or network filter that blocks the storage endpoint can stall it, and why allow-listing my.apnealytics.com helps.
