No data for last night

If Apnealytics shows no CPAP data for last night after an upload, the night is almost always still on its way rather than lost. ResMed machines finish writing a night's summary after the session ends, the date is assigned by the machine's clock, and a locked card records nothing. Work through the checks below.

No data for last night
01

Check 1: Was the card in the machine?

Obvious, and the most common cause after an upload day. If you uploaded yesterday evening and forgot to put the card back, last night was not recorded. Put the card in now; tonight will record.

Check 1: Was the card in the machine?
02

Check 2: Had the machine finished writing?

ResMed machines write the summary row for a night to STR.edf after therapy stops, and some detail files are finalised on the next power cycle or after the machine has been idle for a while. If you pulled the card within minutes of waking, the night may be incomplete. Put the card back, let the machine sit idle, then upload again later. Re-uploads only add what is new.

Check 2: Had the machine finished writing?
03

Check 3: Is the write-lock tab locked?

Look at the long edge of the SD card. If the slider is toward LOCK, the machine could not write. Slide it away from LOCK, put the card back, and tonight will record. The missed nights cannot be recovered; they were never written.

04

Check 4: Which date is "last night"?

ResMed assigns a night to a therapy date using a noon-to-noon window on the machine's clock. A session that started after midnight belongs to the previous calendar day. Check the Nights list for a night with a date one day off, and check the machine's date and time settings. A machine whose clock reset after a power cut will file nights under the wrong year.

05

Check 5: Did the upload include the right folder?

The summary file (STR.edf) carries the nightly numbers; DATALOG carries detail. If you uploaded only DATALOG, or only a subfolder, the night may be missing its summary row. Re-upload the card's top-level folder; the uploader is folder-aware and will fill the gap.

06

Check 6: Was it a very short session?

ResMed machines may not record a night, or Apnealytics may show it with almost no usage, if therapy ran for only a few minutes. That is a real night with very little use, not missing data.

07

Check 7: Is the card failing?

If the same recent nights are missing on every upload while older nights are fine, and the machine has started showing card messages, the card may be worn. Upload what you have and replace the card.

08

After you fix it

Return the card to the machine. Tomorrow's upload will include tonight. If a night that should exist still does not appear after a second upload, email info@apnealytics.com with the machine model, the date, and your Import history entry. Do not send the card files.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Why is last night missing from Apnealytics?

Most often the card was out of the machine, the machine had not finished writing when the card was removed, or the write-lock tab was set. Check those first. Then check the date: ResMed files sessions that start after midnight under the previous day.

Can I recover a night the machine did not record?

No. If the card was out, locked or faulty, the machine wrote nothing for that night, and no tool can recover it. Apnealytics can only read what the machine stored. Put the card back and let tonight record.

How soon after waking can I remove the card?

Wait until the machine is idle on its home screen and the card indicator is steady, then give it a minute or two. If in doubt, leave the card in until the evening and upload before bed.

Why does my night show the wrong date?

ResMed assigns a therapy date using a noon-to-noon boundary on the machine's clock, so a session starting after midnight counts for the day before. If dates are off by more than a day, check the machine's clock in its settings menu.
